Khomein exports 90 tons of honey per annum

TEHRAN, August 18 (MNA) – Ninety tons of honey worth 225,000 dollars is exported annually to the Persian Gulf states from Khomein located in the central province of Markazi, an official in charge of the livestock and poultries affairs of Agricultural Jihad Dept. of Khomein, said.

 

“Every year 200 apiarists produce 165 tons of honey from 15,000 beehives in Khomein. Given the figures, they rank first in Markazi Province,” Rabi’i, told the Iranian Students News Agency, (ISNA) on Wednesday.

 

Referring to the creation of 700 job opportunities through the process of producing and supplying the commodity in Khomein, he added that high quality of the honey produced in the region and the consumers satisfaction with the product, have led to the establishment of 30 honey producing centers in the city.

 

He also asserted that the Agricultural Jihad Dept. of Khomein would provide the apiarists with insurance coverage, medical and counseling services. He assured honey production would be doubled in the region if the producers are financially supported and supplied with the required facilities.

 

In springtime, apiarists from Khomein transfer their beehives to the verdant field of the region and in other seasons they move them to Isfahan and Lorestan provinces.
